Mexico at its finest is this adorable, dreamy-eyed photographer
What do you get when you take one marvelous-looking Mexican man, some serious trigger finger talent and heaps of patience? Oh, that would be Rodrigo Del Río Lozano.
I first met this Mexico City born boy at Xcaret, an ecological park in Quintana Roo on the Riviera Maya. He was shooting a faux wedding (shooting as in he takes photos, not kills people) and I was following the wedding party. Don’t ask me why, it was just one of those things; our groups were traveling together. I was bored, he was pretty and thus, I struck up a conversation — because I thought his face was so adorable that all of you would appreciate it, as well.
Rodrigo and I sat next to one another at dinner, a Cirque de Soleil-esque show called Mexico Espectacular. He (very patiently) explained every single thing that happened during the show, why it was an important way of understanding Mexico’s history and even confessed he got a little teary-eyed the first time he saw it. He also called his mom during the show so she could hear her favorite song. Bless.
Rodrigo’s talent as a photographer is a beautiful thing to witness as well. You can check out his work here, but when a man can make a wedding look like a piece of art, you know he’s got the goods (he shoots underwater as well).
Although I didn’t think I’d see Rodrigo again, our paths were linked throughout the weekend. He was on hand to photograph the faux mystical Mexican wedding ceremony I attended (check out the above photo, we were both forced to wear all white), caught up with me at the Mayan ruins at Tulum and was even present and accounted for to witness my non-swimmer self (I’m an adept doggy paddler, however) ride with dolphins at Delphinus yesterday morning. I’m glad I had the extra time to get to know him — when a man can create something as beautiful as his photographs, you know he’s more than just a pretty face…

ONE THING A WOMAN NEEDS TO KNOW IF SHE’S GOING TO DATE HIM: “I LOVE my camera.” Meaning, ladies, don’t try to separate the man from his work!
